01-31-09 Out of the mouth of Babes...

So, I left Silas in my room while I went to fax something in the kitchen (it is tax season and I am frantically trying to get W-2's out and everything wrapped up for 2008) and when I came back, he had made a very big mess. I looked at him, hands on hips and asked, "Why did you make such a big mess?"

His reply - "Well, you shouldn't have weft me ay-one." [translation - left me alone]

12-30-08 Scan results

So far the scan on Silas' brain has shown no sign of seizure activity. After the new year we go in for an EKG and bloodwork, then we should know for sure. Here's keeping fingers crossed and prayers going!

11-27-08 Thanksgiving day... Am I thankful?!?

Silas' results from the sleep deprivation brain scan are not in yet. We are going in next Mon. to get labs drawn and one other thing done that I can't remember at the moment. THAT should be fun!

I am grateful that we have a wonderful dentist who's primary goal is to keep kids comfortable with the dentist. He managed to convince Silas that he needed to chase the sugarbugs around with the toothbrush and then paint the "sugarbug poop" off his teeth (paint on the fluoride). That is about as far as it went and took about 6 min. Silas has a mouth full of cavities. {(sigh)} In part it is due to all the medications he was on in the NICU and the trauma he suffered when his body should have been creating enamel on his teeth. Another contributor is his oral aversion and we have only recently (after age 2) been able to do any significant teeth brushing with him and only 3 times have I been able to floss more than 1 tooth. Anyway, he now says in his prayers, "Thank-you God, for dentist and poop off my teeth." EWWWW! I hope I don't ever have to explain that one!

11-05-2008 Silas...

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we are taking Silas in for tests at the end of Nov. We are trying to discover if he is having seizures or not. The main test that I am NOT looking forward to is the sleep deprivation brain scan. I need to keep him up until 11pm (this is NOT the hard part) and then wake him again at 2am. After that, he needs to stay awake (without caffeine of any kind) until the scan at 9am which will last for 2 hours. (sigh) Like I said, I am NOT looking forward to it.

08-22-08 I'm back!

I know it has been a couple months since I've updated here, and it has been said that a picture says a thousand words... so I'm going to start with a few picture posts.

This is the color guard for the Southern Oregon Young Marines as they marched in the 4th of July parade in Central Point.

The S.O. Young Marines Banner.

(This is a small flag that they carried compared to last year.) I put a circle around Micah.

Micah's handsome, if somewhat sunburned, face.

This is the banner for the American Heritage Girls. The girls went around with spray bottles "cooling off" the onlookers.

Jerusha in one of the tie dyed shirts that were made by the AHG at a meeting.

And Savannah...

...I just had to take a picture of the hair that was done by one of the leaders. Savannah said she thought it looked like she had fireworks bursting from the top of her head.

This was a visit to the ER where Silas was screaming, doubling over and pinching at his tummy on the right side. Turns out, after throwing up all over me as we walked into the hospital, he only had the flu!

And this is how we spent 3 hours in "observation"!

Jerusha's 7th birthday at the roller skating rink.

Luke, brother Caleb's son, after he took a tumble and split open his nose!

Jasmine, brother Caleb's daughter... I call her BOO after the little girl in Monster's Inc.

Joshua, brother Caleb's oldest.

Silas

Silas very determined to wrestle away the cat from Jerusha.

Jerusha again.

Micah again.

And that's it for now!!!
